Two more Hoosier soldiers have been wounded in the Korean fighting the Defense Department announced today. They are: Sgt. William W. Frame, husband of Mrs. Mary Frame, Lafayette. Pfc. Henry A. French, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph H. French, Roachdale.

Henry Allen French, 79, passed away Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012 at Putnam County Hospital. He was born February 26, 1933 in Crawfordsville to the late Ralph and Zosta "Alleen" (Morrison) French.
A veteran, Henry was a member of the Greencastle Moose Lodge, American Legion and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. After receiving a purple heart for his service as a U.S. Army medic during the Korean War, he married his wife; Darlene (Cline) French in 1955, and she survives. They were married 57 years. Together they had four children, and a dog, Sossie. Survivors include their four children, Mark A French of Greencastle, Trina K. Snyder of Greencastle, Carla M. Buttery and husband Fred of Russelville and Elizabeth A. "Beth" Short and husband Donnie of Greencastle; eight grandchildren, Fred Buttery, Billy Cox, Shauna French, Slone Short, Travis Short, Chad Buttery, Brandon Buttery and Nathan French; and 21 great-grandchildren. Henry was one of eight children. He is survived by Raymond French and wife Carol of Waveland, Donnie French and wife Diedra of Lake Holiday, Beverly (French) Sanders and husband Bill of Kingman and Peggy (French) Ferrand, and husband Kenneth of Sebring Fla. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister, Richard "Dickie" French, Dennis French and Patricia "Pat" (French) Waltz. A memorial service with military rites will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24 at The StoreHouse (double-dome church), 605 Westlane Rd., Greencastle. - kbz
