FOX, William E. - 1930 - Putnam

Word has been received here of the death of William E. Fox, at his home at Rugby, North Dakota.  Mr. Fox was born and reared in the vicinity of Reelsville and has may friends over the county who will be grieved to learn of his death.  For several years he operated the meat market on South Vine Street now owned by HR Nicholas. He is survived by the widow and two sons, his mother, Mrs. Sarah Fox of Terre Haute; one brother Albert B. Fox of Rugby; two sisters Mrs. Flora Robinson of Terre Haute and Mrs. Josie Wood who resides in the South and other relatives and friends.  He was about 60 years of age. ~~~transcribed by kbz

William E. Fox, 65 years old, a former resident of this county who left Reelsville in 1902 and went to Rugby, North Dakota where he has since made his home, died on Monday Jan 16 of injuries suffered a week previous when he was struck by a railroad train while on his way from his home to the round house where he was employed as master mechanic.  It was believed at first that the injuries to Mr. Fox were not serious but later an infection developed which resulted in his death.  William E. Fox was born in Reelsville, Ind Jan 2, 1865.  Hs parents were pioneers in Putnam County coming from Pennsylvania when Indiana was a far west state.  He went to Rugby in 1902 and shortly afterward enter the employ of the Great Northern as a machinist and after a couple of years of serve was forman of the shop which position he had held since. In 1914 he was united in marriage to Miss Grace Bum of New York, who was at that time one of the faculty of the Rugby school at her former home in New York state.  Besides the wife he leaves to mourn his departure two sons, William 14 and Gleason 11 an aged mother and a sister, Mrs. Flora Robison of Terre Haute, Ind another sister Mrs. Wood of Atlanta, GA and one brother, AB Fox of Rugby.  The funeral was Friday afternoon Jan 17, at 2:00 o’clock from the home services being conducted by Bishop J. Poyntz Tyler of the Episcopal church of Fargo.
