Died at her residence in Russell Township, on Dec 24, 1879, Louisa M, wife of John Fosher, after a lingering illness of near 5 months, aged 51 years 4 months 21 days. She was the daughter of James and Mary Gosby (sic - Goslin) and emigrated to this county (from Stokes Co NC) with them when quite young. She was married Jan 24, 1847. She was the mother of 9 children, two of whom preceded her to the silent land. She was raised in the Methodist faith, and never believed the doctrine of partialism. In 1854 she united with the Universalist Church then organized at Blakesburg under the ministry of Rev. Longley. She united with the Church at FIncstle, at its organization and was a regular attendant and faithful member to her death. Up to within a few hours of her death her mind was clear and rational. She talked much of her approaching dissolution and made arrangements for her funeral. Almost her last words were: "I have always been a Universalist, and I leave it to the people and my neighbors to judge whether I have lived consistent with the doctrine I have professed." Suffice it to say, in conclusion, that no kinder mother or better neighbor ever lived. In sickness and distress she was ever ready with a kind word and helping hand; and her children, kindred and neighbors have sustained a great loss in her death. But we can only say, peace be to her ashes; her troubles, trials and sufferings are over, and she sleeps the sleep of the blessed --- transcribed by kbz
