Celia Durham, daughter of John and Sarah Stubbins Durham, was born Oct 19, 1848 and was married to William A. Fordyce Sept 1867, died, after a lingering illness at the home of her daughter, Mrs. TZ Ball, Dec 3, 1916. Early in life she united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Waveland and at the time of her death, was a member of the First ME Church of Topeca Ks. She was a devoted mother, an unassuming, practice Christian. Her greatest happiness was found in giving sympathy and help to those in need. Her departure to the Father's house leaves a sad vacancy in the home. She is survived by two daughters, two grandsons, and 11 brothers and sisters, one brother having preceded her to the better land. Funeral services at the home were conducted by Rev. OS Stewart. Interment in Maple Ridge. Those present from a distance were: John Durham and daughter, Mary of Jamestown; Mr. and Mrs. Tom McNutt, Harry Stubbins, Mrs. Mary Stubbins; Mrs. Robert Stubbs of Crawfordsville; Fred, James and Joseph Fordyce, Russellville; Joseph Ball and Miss Margaret McNutt of Terre Haute; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Burford and Clarence Burford of New Market.
