FARROW, Marion Lawrence - Putnam

Once again In a few short months, the home ties of Leslie Sears has been broken when the aged father-in-law was called to his eternal rest. Marion Lawrence, son of Marion and Malissa Allen Farrow was born in the northern part of Putnam county, Sept. 28, 1857, where he spent the greater part of his life.  At an early age he joined the Farrow Methodist Chapel in that community, and remained a member there until the old church was discarded. His membership was then transferred to the Brick Chapel Methodist Church, where he was a faithful member the rest of his life. On Sept 29, 1877, he was married to Carrie Belle Gardner. One j daughter, May Farrow Sears blest this home. May passed away April 11. 1952. Mr. Farrow was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge over forty-two years, also' the Bee Hive Rebekah Lodge in Greencastle for twenty-five years.  After the death of Mrs. Farrow several years ago, he made his home with the daughter. As the years passed, and her health became such that she was no longer able to care for him, he was then taken to the Odd Fellow's Home in Greensburg, lnd. in 1950, where he was the oldest guest there. He enjoyed the care and comfort and associations of the home.  Had he lived until Sept. 28 he would have been ninety-five years of age. PIans were being  made for him to come back to his old home and spend what  would have been his last birthday, but a sudden and brief illness prevented, and on Wednesday, Sept. 24, he answered the Master's call: "Come unto me,  all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Mr. Farrow's early life was spent in farming, but his greatest interest was fruit growing and the wonderful orchard which he possessed. Later he was engaged in the dairy business for several years. Mr. Farrow had a quiet jovial disposition, and always had a pleasant and cheery greeting for those whom he met. He was exemplary man. a good neighbor, a friend to all—always willing to lend a helping hand in time of need.  The surviving members of the family are the son-in-law. Leslie Sears, two grand-daughters,  Mrs. Dorothy Miller, and Mrs. Loretta South, both of Indianapolis. two great grandchildren,  Mrs. Clara May Jones and Norman Sullivan, two great-great-grandchildren, one sister. Mrs. Antonio Douglas, now ninety-eight years of age and two nieces of Clinton. Missouri. A half-brother, Bert Farrow passed away many years ago.  Mr. Farrow is the last member of one of the well-known pioneer families of Putnam County (poem).  Card of Thanks – We wish to express our sincere thanks to all who sent so many beautiful flowers.  Leslie Sears, Mrs. Dorothy Miller, Mrs. Loretta South and family.
