Another of the older but fine type of Putnam County woman passed away Monday morning with the death of Mrs. Alice Farmer at her home immediately east of Greencastle which was  built by her father and where she had spent many years.  Her birth occurred April 26, 1852 in Marion Twp she being the daughter of Richard M. Hazelett one of the pioneers of that region.  Her mother was Malvina Bunten before her marriage.  Richard Hazelett entered the land from the government which became the Hazelett homestead and it has never passed out of the ownership of the family.  Her marriage to Thomas Farmer occurred March 15, 1877 his death having taken place in 1922. There are three daughters: Mrs. Walter R. Hutcheson, Mrs. Louis F. Hays and Mrs. May Hammond; Mrs. Henry Runyan is a stepdaughter and Frank Farmer a stepson.  Claude Farmer, a son died in 1932.  One sister only, Mrs. VanSant survives at her home in Chicago.  Mrs. Farmer was known as an exceptionally well-informed woman and she conversed entertainingly of scenes and experiences of older times.  The funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Wednesday at the home with Rev.
