Shirl K. Evans, 79, retired prominent farmer of the Thorntown and Russellville neighborhoods, died Saturday morning after a short illness of Sebring, FL. A son of Simpson F. and Mae Kendall Evans, he was born Dec 7, 1890. His wife, the former Grace Eads is deceased. he was a member of the United Church of Christ. Surviving are a son, Shirl K., Jr. formerly associated with Radio Station WFBM, Indianapolis and presently public relations and executive director of Association of Indiana Counties; a sister, Miss Olive Evans of Russellville and brother, Earl Evans of Waveland. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at United Church of Christ , with burial in Russellville Cemetery. Friends may call at McGaughey & Son Funeral Home after 1 p.m. today.
