Anna Jones Evans, 89,102 W. Poplar Sl, Greencastle, died Wednesday morning at Putnam County Hospital. Bom Sept. 19, 1899 in Putnam County, she was the daughter of Mack (Americus E.) and Lottie (Carlotta) Allee Jones. Mrs. Evans was a 1923 graduate of DePauw University. She married P.G. Evans on June 19, 1926. He preceded her in death on June 17,1980. Mrs. Evans was a member of the Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Delta Theta Tau Alumnae and Alpha Omicron Pi. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Carolyn Evans, Flint, Mich., and Robert and Sharon Evans, Greencastle; a sister, Ruby Alice Jones, Greenwood, and six grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Thad Jones, and two sisters, Florence Jones and Jessie Price. In accordance with Mrs. Evans’ wishes, there will be a private graveside service at Forest Hill Cemetery, Greencastle. There will be no visitation. The family requests memorials be made to the Putnam County Foundation, in care of Jerry Williams at Central National Bank; the DePauw University Memorial Fund or Putnam County Library Memorial Fund. Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, is in charge of arrangements.
