Mary Alice Epperson was born in Indiana August 25, 1859. Her husband, John Henry Epperson and a daughter passed away several years before she left Indiana. She went to Florida from Roachdale, Indiana, in 1912, with her father and mothers, Mr. and Mrs. James Dickerson and her sister, Mrs. Lilly Wilkerson, who have all passed on, she being the last of her family. She was a cousin by marriage of Mamie Riggle of Miami, Florida, and also a former resident of Roachdale. She was a member of the Universalist church at Fincastle, Indiana and a charter member of the Eastern Star at Naranja, Florida. She was stricken with paralysis on April 11, was taken to the hospital, and lived just two weeks, passing away April 25, 1939, at the age of 79 years and 8 months. She spent most of her life doing for others. Her funeral was held at the Turner funeral home at homestead, Florida, by a Baptist minister, and she was laid away in the family lot at Naranja, Florida. The O.E. S. services were held at the grave ---- thanks so very much to Marilyn W. for sharing her Roachdale Times obituary collection - greatly appreciated !.
