ELDER, Retha Webb - Putnam

Retha Elder, 82, Asbury Towers, Health Center. She was born in Marion Township, Putnam Conty, on March 23, 1907, the daughter of Otto G. and Iva (Layne) Webb. On Nov 19, 1938, she married Ray H. Elder. He preceded his wife in death on Aug 9, 1984. Mrs. Elder was a member of the Christian Scientist Church.  A graduate of Greencastle HS, she attended business college in Indianapolis. Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Orville and Frances Webb, Greencastle; two sister-in-laws Catherine Webb, Greencastle and Trudy Webb, Greencastle and Trudy Webb, Alaska and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Claude and Noble Webb and a sister, Reba Webb Darbro.  Services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday at Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle with Rev. Paul Bowen officiating.  Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.  Friends may call 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.  The family requests memorial donations be made to the donor’s favorite charity. – kbz
