Roachdale, April 3. – Last rites for Mrs. [Sarah] Ann Edwards were held Friday afternoon at the Chastain Funeral home with Rev. J. McMullen officiating. “Abide With Me” and “Perfect Rest” were sung by Everett Lewis and Eugene Hutchine (sic – Hutchins). Miss Eva Williams organist accompanied them.
Pall bearers were Ward Lovett, Raymond Crosby, Carl Brookshire, Glenn Irwin and Walter Smith.
Flower bearers were Lola Crosby, Hazel Lovett, Pearl Brookshire, Vesta Barnes. Burial was in the Roachdale cemetery.

Roachdale, March 29 - Mrs. Sarah Ann Edwards, 80, died about noon Wednesday at the Putnam county hospital in Greencastle. She suffered a paralytic stroke about two and a half months ago and had been sick since.
Mrs. Edwards was born Jan. 20, 1864, in Parke county near Greencastle, the daughter of James and Emily Bruner Harris. She was married in Greencastle in September, 1896, to Charles A. Edwards, now deceased, and was a member of the Christian church and Order of Eastern Star here.
Survivors include a brother, S. A. Harris, of Joplin, Mo., and two step children, Mrs. Osborne Hutchins and Ralph Edwards, Both of Roachdale.
Funeral service will be at two o'clock Friday afternoon at the Chastain funeral home here, where friends may call after one o'clock Thursday. The Rev. O. J. McMullin of the Presbyterian church will officiate and burial will be at the Roachdale Cemetery.
