Greencastle – Dr. Will Edington, 90,
New Castle, a former DePauw University professor and former resident of
Greencastle died yesterday in Henry County Hospital at New Castle. He was
chairman of the department of mathematics and astronomy at DePauw from 1930
until his retirement in 1953. Earlier he
had taught at the University of Colorado, Penn State University, the University
of New Mexico and Purdue University. He was graduated from Indiana State
University and the University of Illinois. In 19 60 ISU conferred on him Its
Distinguished Alumni Award. He was a former president of the Greencastle Rotary
Club and Indiana Academy of Science. He was a charter member of the Mathematics
Association of America and the American Association of University Professors.
He was national scholarship chairman of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. Services will
be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Rush County. Survivors
include a son, William Edington of Flushing, Mich. – kbz
