EDENS, Herschel - Putnam

Herschel L. Edens, 68, 151 E. Logan St., Cloverdale, died unexpectedly at 6:06 a.m. Thursday June 28, 1990 at the Putnam County Hospital in Greencastle.  He had been a Greencastle resident for five years, moving there from Santa Maria, Calif. The son of Everett and Callie Wade Edens, he was born Oct 24, 1921 in Herrin, Ill.  On Aug 13, 1945, he married Laura Dow. She survives. Mr. Edens was a auto mechanic for GTE in Santa Maria, Calif retiring in 1985.  Surviving besides the widow are a daughter, Juanita Anderson, Santa Maria, Calif; two brothers, Cecil Edens, Herrin, Ill and Paul Edens, Cambridge City; and a grandson. The Rev. James Moore will conduct the 1 p.m. Monday graveside rites at Cloverdale Cemetery. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at Whitaker Funeral Home in Cloverdale. – kbz
