Cabery – Emil O. Dorsett, 76, a retired Cabery implement dealer, died at 10:20 p.m. Sunday (Dec 18, 1983) at St. Mary’s Hospital, Kankakee. He had been ill for several weeks. His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Stewart Funeral Home, Cullorn, the Rev. Anthony Meis officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Cabery. Visitation will be from 5-9 tonight at the funeral home, where Masonic rites will be accorded at 8 p.m. He was born Dec 5, 1907 at Cloverdale, Ind, a son of William F. and Estella Pritchard Dorsett. He married Gwendoline Gravelle Aug 14, 1936 at Crown Point, Ind. She survives. Other survivors include four sons, Shields, Alexandria, W Va; Ralph, Satellite Beach, Fla; Darrel, San Mateo, Calif and Ted, Cabery; a daughter, Sheila Smith, Elgin; two brothers Dennis, Downey, Calif and Henry, Columbus, Ohio; a sister, Averill Viano, Pittsburgh; 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Nine brothers and sister preceded him in death. Mr. Dorsett served as mayor of Cabery for one term and lived in Cabery for the past 44 years. He was an implement dealer for 27 years, retiring in 1966. He had previously worked for International Harvester for several years. He was a member of the Kankakee Lodge AF&AM 389; a 50-year member of the Masons and a charter member of the Kempton-Cabery Lions Club of which he was still a member. - kbz
