Henry Orphilla Dawson, son of Willis and Margaret Wilson Dawson was born in Putnam County May 27, 1865. Most of his life had been spent in the vicinity of Carpentersville where for many years he operated a threshing outfit. "Dolly", as many friends called him, had the respect and effection of all who knew him. On October 19, 1881, he married Elizabeth McFerran and since then they had resided on a farm east of Carpenterville. For the past two years he had in ill health and on December 10, 1939, passed quietly to rest, being 74 years 6 months and 13 days of age. He was a member of the Carpenterville Methodist church and the Bainbridge Masonic Lodge. Surviving besides the widow are two sisters: Mrs. Tillie Shillings and Mrs. Rose Pickel of Carpentersville, a nephew Glenn O. Pickel and two neices; Mrs. Marguerite Huges of Jeffersonville and Mrs. Nina Davis of Indianapolis. Funeral services were held at the Chastain funeral home Tuesday December 12, at 1 o'clock with Rev.
