DAVIS, Jarvis C. - Putnam

Greencastle - A DePauw University professor of English for 33 years, Jarvis C. Davis died in Putnam County Hospital Wednesday at the age of 56.  Davis was born in New Albany and was graduated from DePauw in 1925.

Jarvis Davis, professor of English at DePauw University for 32 years died at 7:25 a.m. Wednesday at the Putnam County Hospital in Greencastle. He was 57 years of age. He was born in Brook, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Davis and was a graduate of Brook High School. He was a graduate of DePauw University and held a Masters Degree from Chicago University.  Surviving with his mother are one brother, Ardoth of Argos, Ind and one sister, Mrs. Truman Sell of Brook. Funeral services will be held in Greencastle and burial will be made in the Greencastle cemetery. The body is at the Rector Funeral Home in Greencastle. Mr. Dvis' mother is now a patient at the Jasper County Hospital. - kbz
