William Elmer Cunningham, son of W. B. and Mary Cunningham, was born on the home farm near Fincastle April 7, 1862, and passed away at his home at 2519 East Michigan Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, May 2, 1939, due to heart attack. He was united in marriage with Gertrude Blake of Roachdale, August 2, 1898, and to this union were born three children. His wife and one child preceded him in death. He leaves two children; Dorothy L. of Indianapolis and Oris B. of Chicago and two grandchildren; Robert William and Donald Oris of Chicago. Final rites for William Elmer Cunningham, age 71, a resident of Indianapolis 31 years, who died Tuesday in the home of a daughter, Miss Dorothy L. Cunningham, 2519 East Michigan Street, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Flanner & Buchanan Mortuary. The Rev. LC Trent, pastor of the Woodruff Place Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Crown Hill cemetery. He was the brother of Dr. John M. Cunningham, prominent Indianapolis physician.  Mr. Cunningham was born in Putnam County and came to Indianapolis in 1908.  He retired from active business in 1930.  Survivors besides the daughter and brother, are a son, Oris B. Cunningham, Chicago; two sisters, Miss May Cunningham of Indianapolis and Mrs. Kate Jackson, Kokomo; another, (sic) Riley Cunningham, Lebanon and two grandchildren.
