Dr. John T. Cunningham,
4290 North Meridian Street was informed yesterday that his brother, Dr. Samuel
R. Cunningham, 64 years old, died in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Monday after an
illness of five years. Dr. Samuel
Cunningham took his premedical course at Butler College in 1894-95 and was
graduated from the old Indiana Medical College in 1899. He practiced medicine
in this city several years. Dr. Cunningham was professor of orthopedic surgery
at the Oklahoma State Medical College and was a recognized authority in that field.
He held frequent clinics in Chicago and in Oregon and recently completed an
extensive course of lectures in several medical institutions. He was born in Putnam County Indiana and was
married twice. His first wife was the daughter of Alexander Johnson, former
secretary of the Board of State Charities. They had two sons, one of whom is a
teacher in Oklahoma and the other a physician in New York. Other survivors are
the widow, the brother and a sister, Miss May Cunningham, also of Indianapolis.
Funeral services and burial will be this afternoon in Oklahoma City. - kbz
