William Alexander Crosby, former Roachdale resident, died at the home of his son Joseph Crosby of Silver Springs, Maryland, Wednesday morning following a short illness. He suffered a paralytic stroke New Year's day and had been in a coma since. He was 76 years old. Funeral services will be conducted by the Roachdale Masonic lodge at the Chastain funeral home Friday afternoon. Burial will be made in the Ladoga cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home tonight and Friday morning. Mr. Crosby has spent the winter with his son in Silver Spring and with his daughter Mrs. Lela Toy of Los Angeles, California, the past several years. The son, well known here, is connected with the Federal Reserve bank at Washington, D.C. He was born July 28, 1863, a son of Joseph and Frances Cline Crosby. In 1888 he married Florence Scribner who died April 28, 1932. Mr. Crosby was a member of Roachdale Lodge No: 602, F. & A. M. Besides the son and daughter, survivors include a sister, Mrs. Ethel Sutherlin of this place and a grandson Jack Crosby of Silver Spring.
