Robert Stanley Crosby, 86, Route 2, Roachdale, passed away Wednesday evening at Hendricks Community Hospital, Danville. He had been in failing health for six months. He was born Dec. 19, 1902 at Roachdale, the son of James E. Crosby and Laura Sutherlin. He married Jean Heighway on March 27, 1926, and she preceded him in death in 1978. He married Trudy Nelson on July 29,1984, and she survives. Mr. Crosby was a 1920 graduate of Roachdale High School and a 1925 graduate of DePauw University. He was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He was a life member of the Roachdale Presbyterian Church, a 60-year member of the Roachdale Masonic Lodge, and member of the Crawfordsville Elks Club. A retired farmer, he was also Jackson Township trustee for 12 years and a member of the Putnam County Hospital Board for six years. Along with his second wife, he is survived by two sons, John and Richard Crosby, both of Roachdale; a brother, Ralph Crosby, rural Ladoga; two stepchildren Sandy Goforth and Gary Nelson, both of Crawfordsville; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services arc scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday al Roachdale Presbyterian Church. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Friday at Servies A Morgan Funeral Home, Roachdale. Burial will be at Roachdale Cemetery.
