Greencastle, Ind – Joseph B. Crosby, 64 years old, president of the First Citizens Bank and Trust Company at Greencastle for 22 years died yesterday in the Putnam County Hospital here. Mr. Cosby attended Central Business College of Indianapolis and DePauw University and was graduated from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. He began his banking career with Roachdale Bank & Trust Company in 1918 and served as assistant VP of the Central National Bank of Greencastle from 1922-1930. For the next three years Mr. Cosby was associated with the Federal Land Bank at Lexington, KY.  From 1933 to 1940 he was an examiner for the Federal Reserve System before returning to Greencastle as president of the Indiana Bankers Association and had served as a member of the Indiana State Department of Financial Institutions. He was a member of a number of committees of the American Bankers Association and currently was serving on the state taxation committee for the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Cosby also was on the budget committee of the Indiana Bankers Association.  A member of the Putnam County Welfare Board, Mr. Cosby also was a past president of the Greencastle Chamber of Commerce and was president of the Windy Hill Country Club. A WWI Army veteran, Mr. Crosby was a member of the Greencastle American Legion Post, Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, Masonic Lodge and Kiwanis Club and was a past exalted ruler of the Greencastle Elks Lodge. Mr. Crosby was an elder in the First Christian Church of Greencastle. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Rector Funeral Home at Greencastle with burial in the Roachdale cemetery. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Dama Call Crosby; one son, Capt. Jack B. Crosby, a medical specialist at Brooks Air Force Base, san Antonio, Tex and two grandsons. - kbz
