Charles H. Crosby died at his home on Tuesday evening after an illness extending over a period of five years. He was 82 years of age. Mr. Crosby was born in Jackson township near here September 18, 1859, a son of Elisha O. and Martha Miller Crosby. He was married September 27, 1883 to Eva E. Edwards of Carpentersville, who survives. Mr. Crosby was active in businesses and political affairs during his lifetime and served as president of Roachdale Bank and Trust Company for several years. He was a member of the board of trustees of the Putnam county hospital three years and was a member of the board of trustees of Roachdale Cemetery Association. He was a deacon in the Presbyterian church over 20 years. Besides the widow, other survivors are two sons; Raymond Crosby of near here and Claude Crosby of this area, 2 grandsons; Frank and Clifford Crosby, 2 granddaughters, Joan and Sandra Crosby, three brothers J. Harvey Crosby, J. E. Crosby of Roachdale and Lem W. Crosby of near Ladoga, and two sisters; Miss Corda Crosby of this place and Mrs. J. G.___ of Lizton. One daughter preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at the Presbyterian church. Burial will be made in Roachdale cemetery.
