Augustus C. Cronkhite, 80, of Greencastle, Ind. died yesterday morning (Oct. 31, 1969), at Putnam County Hospital in Greencastle. Born May 31, 1889 in Warren County, Ind., he was a son of Augustus C. and Sarah Belle Jones Cronkhite. Surviving besides his widow, Martha, are four sons, Alfred, Kingman, Ind., Dean, Crawfordsville, Elwin (Gus) and Robert, of Indianapolis; four daughters, Mrs. Virginia Knauer, Cincinnati, and Mrs. Frances Ballard, Mrs. Augustus Lewis and Mrs. Dortha Dretska, all of Indianapolis, and two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Ellis and Mrs. Ruth Anna Cook, both of Danville. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Hopkins-Walton Funeral Home, Greencastle. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today.

Greencastle - Augustus C. Cronkhite, 80, who once farmed in Montgomery County, died Friday morning in Putnam County Hospital here. He was born May 31, 1889 in Warren County, a son of Augustus C. and Sarah Belle Jones Cronkhite. A member of the Lutheran Church at Wallace, he had also farmed in Warren, Fountain and Putnam counties. Survivors include his wife, Martha; four sons, Alfred of Kingman, Dean of Crawfordsville and Robert and Elwin (Gus), both of Indianapolis; four daughters, Mrs. Francis Balard, Mrs. Augusta Lewis, and Mrs. Dortha Dietska, all of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Virginia Knauer of Cincinnati, two sisters; Mrs. Elizabeth Ellis and Mrs. Ruth Ann Cook, both of Danville, and 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Hopkins-Walton Funeral Home here, and friends may call at the funeral home.
