John Crane, Jr. a well known citizen of this place died Wednesday Oct 20, very suddenly having been sick only about 50 hours of congestion of the stomach and bowels. Deceased was up in the business portion of the city on Monday night and was taken sick at that time. Friends took him to his father’s residence and medical aid was summoned but in spite of all that could be done, death came as above stated. John Crane, Jr. was eminent in politics, having served two terms as Recorder of the county. He was kind and generous to a fault, and had a large circle of friends. He leaves four orphan children and many other relatives to mourn his sudden departure hence. – kbz
