COZAD, Jacob (Rev) - Putnam

Rev. J. Cozad, minister of the Methodist E. Church in charge of the Russellville circuit, departed this life on the 13th of instant. Mr. Cozard (sic) was a man who stood deservedly high in his church and was greatly esteemed by all, both as a minister and as a citizen. – kz  - note: he may have died in Monroe Twp (Bainbridge area as he is in the 1860 census there but it only mentions Russellville so not sure – definitely in Putnam County) – 1860 Census #207 – Jacob Gozad 40 Minister ME Church 1000 real estate and 400 personal property. Wife is Sarah 31 and children (left orphans – oh so sad) Caroline 13; June 10; Artamacy 7; Elizabeth 5 and finally got a son, Joseph age 2. - kbz
