COVERDILL, William

William Coverdill

Source: Greencastle Star, Greencastle, Putnam County, Indiana 12 June 1880
On Wednesday afternoon last William Coverdill for the past 20 years a resident of Floyd Township, living on what is known as the old Wilkerson farm was accidentally drowned. The particular as we hear them are as
follows: in the afternoon he had gone over to Fillmore in a spring wagon for sacks in which to market his wheat, and when fording the creek near his own farm, on the return trip, some accident occurred whereby the old man was lost from the wagon and drowned, and the horses broke loose from the vehicle and returned home. Deceased came to Putnam County from Madison, Indiana and was about 70 years of age.  Unceasing efforts have been made to recover his remains but up to Thursday evening, when we received the latest word from the scene of the accident, the search had been unavailing - transcribed by kbz
