The death of William A. Cooper, auditor of Putnam Co. Auditor, occurred Tuesday evening at the Putnam Co. Hospital. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon. Internment was at Deer Creek cemetery, south of Westland. He was 53 years of age, the son of John F. Cooper, former sheriff of Putnam Co. Greencastle, Ind – Sept 2 – William A. Cooper, age 53, Putnam County auditor, died last night at Putnam County Hospital following a stroke suffered Monday. He was a prominent grocer in Greencastle for many years before entering politics. He was serving his second term as auditor. The widow and two daughters survive. - kbz
