Greencastle, Ind July 13 – William Cooper, age 45, road worker, 10 miles south of here was found dead Monday along a farm road in south Putnam County. Coroner Charles Rector and Sheriff John Sutherlin immediately started an investigation. They said Cooper had been crushed about the chest, indicating he may have been the victim of a hit-run drive. Authorities expressed belief Cooper had been dead several hours. The investigating officers said they learned Cooper was intoxicated when last seen early Sunday morning – kbz
