COOPER, Virginia Ruth

Source: Greencastle Banner 29 January 1922 (?)

It is well to have lived and performed life’s duties well. The tree of life bears no finer fruit than this which has just been gathered to the master. Virginia Ruth, the daughter of Marion Edgar and Nellie Lewis Cooper was born at the home near Putnamville on April 3, 1906. Here she spent her early childhood until she came with her parents to Greencastle. Ever anxious to please and do her part hut always modest and unassuming, she made many close friends, who are better for having known her. She was a Sophomore in High School and there as elsewhere she won the respect and friendship not only of classmates but of all whom she met. Ruth was rich in the qualities that we like to remember. It is easy to speak of these qualities today in the presence of neighbors and friends. We had need o? her quiet and steadfast young life, doing what she found to do, faithful, kind and true. Ruth was unusually patient during nil her suffering, never complaining and always so appreciative of every kindness shown her. She knew the voice of the Master and on Easter Sunday, 1919, she answered his call for service when she made Locust street Methodist Church her church home. She was a faithful attendant at Sunday school. Ruth was a loving and obedient daughter, kind sister and faithful friend. The father in speaking of her remarked that she had never given her mother or father an unkind word. She had high standards of life and a sturdiness of character that enabled her to live up to these standards. Her death, January 28, 1922 came as a personal loss to ail who counted her a friend. She has gone leaving her work unfinished but leaving her life as an inspiration to those who are left. She has passed into the great beyond leaving father, mother, two sisters, Mary Francis and Catherine, a brother, Marion, many relatives and friends the memory of a beautiful well spent life.
