Crawfordsville – Harry A. Coons, 71, formerly Montgomery county commissioner for three terms, died in Culver hospital here Tuesday after a 10-day illness. He was a Republican. The family home is five miles west of New Market. Born near Browns Valley, he was a director of the New Market fire department, a deacon in Freedom Baptist church and was prominent in community affairs. Surviving are his widow, formerly Dorpha S. Caldwell; a daughter, Mrs. Lael Patton, Waveland; a sister, Mrs. Feran Straub, Crawfordsville, and three brothers, Roy C., of Pekin, Ill., Elmer T., of near Crawfordsville, and Carl F., of Russellville.
