James H. Coltharp, son of John and Lucinda Coltharp, was born near Greencastle, Indiana Oct 14, 1869 and died at his home southwest of Leonardville January 9, 1930. He came to Kansas with his parents in 1877 locating near Riley and late moving to the Union community which has since been his home.  He was married to Miss Nora B. Hibner on March 16, 1898.  To this union four children were born, Floy, Raymond, Belva and Frank.  The wife and these children survive. Mr. Coltharp has been connected with church work since young manhood and has always been a supporter of good schools, doing all in his power to build up his community. Short funeral services were conducted at the home, Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Followed by a service at the Leonardville Evangelical Church.  Prayer was offered by Rev. Clayton, after which Rev. Nuffer gave the address. Music was furnished by the regular church choir. Pall bearers were boyhood friends.  Honorary pallbearers were members of the Regulars, the Sunday school class to which Mr. Coltharp belonged. A large crowd of friends was in attendance to pay respect to a former friend.  The body was interred in the Leonardville cemetery. Kbz
