Benjamin P. Coleman died on Friday at his home in South Greencastle after a short sickness with grippe at the age of 74 years 2 months. The following paper was read by Rev. WW Hicks of Warsaw at the funeral which occurred Sunday afternoon: BP Coleman was born Nov 3, 1817 in Tramble (sic) County Ky.  His parents were Virginians and he was the oldest son.  His father was a farmer. Benjamin grew to manhood in Kentucky and moved to Putnam County in 1863.  In 1874 he came to Greencastle.  He was twice married, his first wife being Martha Nicholson.  Two children were the result of this union.  In 1882 Mr. Coleman married Parthenia E. Hensley who survives him.  His occupation was farming.  In business he was honest, industrious, and economical and left a competency of this world’s goods. He joined the Baptist Church in his 23d year, being a member of that church in this city. - kbz
