COATES, Jane - Putnam

Ms. Jane Coates, founder of Coates College of this City, died at her home in Greencastle last Sat and was buried Sunday. Her property valued at from $30000 to $55,000 she left by will to the institution bearing her name and appointed Judge BE Rhoads the ex-mayor of Greencastle, executors. The will was filed for probate on Monday but the witnesses refused to qualified as to her mental condition and letters testamentary were with held. It is said that the granddaughter will contest the will.

Greencastle, Ind Aug 24 – Mrs. Jane Coates, aged 68 years died Saturday. She was the founder of Coates College in Terre Haute which was named after her. The college by her death will receive a large sum of money.
