On last Sunday, the 27th inst, Mr. Coates’ eldest son, some 14 or 15 years of age, departed this life and was interred on Monday at 12 o’clock in the cemetery at this place – making two interesting children he has lost within the short space of a week.  And still another one is lying dangerously ill.  Scarlet fever, it is said, is the disease with which this family has been so sadly afflicted.  Youth, as well as old age, is alike subject to disease and death.  May the heart stricken parents find consolation in the fact, that they have endeavored to prepare their departed offspring to be recepients of the joys and comforts of another and better world.
