Leroy Cloncs, Police Chief of Veedersburg since January 1, died Sunday morning at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Danville, Ill. He had been admitted to the hospital last week after suffering a heart attack at his home. Cloncs had previously been with the Fountain County Sheriff’s Department before working on the Veedersburg police force.
Leroy Cloncs, 45, of Veedersburg, formerly of Roachdale, passed away Sunday, June 26, 1977 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Danville, Ill. Mr. Cloncs was born August 1, 1931, the son of Perrell and Esther Haag Cloncs. He was a graduate of Roachdale High School. He served four years in the Navy. He was Deputy Sheriff of Fountain County at Covington before becoming Police Chief at Veedersburg on January 1, 1977.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita; two daughters, Miss Tina Lynn Cloncs of Bainbridge; Miss Loralee Ann Cloncs of California; his father and mother; one sister, Miss Nancy Cloncs of Bainbridge.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from Perkins Funeral Home in Roachdale.
Burial was in Roachdale Cemetery.

Leroy H. Cloncs, 45, veteran police officer and Veedersburg police chief, died Sunday, June 26, 1977 in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville, Ill.
Prior to accepting the post as police chief, he was a Fountain County Deputy Sheriff and Roachdale town marshal.
He was graduated from Roachdale High School and served four years in the U. S. Navy.
Born Aug. 1, 1931, in Tippecanoe County, he was a son of Terrell and Esther Haag Cloncs.
Survivors include the widow, Juanita; his parents; two daughters, Tina Lynn Cloncs of Bainbridge and Lorelee Ann Cloncs of California; and a sister, Nancy Cloncs of Bainbridge.
