Martha Ann GRIMES, daughter of Peter and Abigail Grimes, was born in Iowa, Dec 25, 1849 departed this life Feb 21, 1927 at the home of her oldest son, Edward near Russelville, Indiana at the age of 77 years 1 month 26 days, after an illness of long duration. When a small child she came with her parents from Iowa to Indiana and has ever after lived around about this locality. In early girlhood she united with the Hebron Christian Church and has always lived loyal to her faith. On Oct 18, 1866, she was united in marriage to Francis Marion Clodfelter, who passed into the Great Beyond May 15, 1918, leaving her so lonely in the broken home these few years. To this union were born 9 children: Edward and Jesse Clodfelter, Cordelia Johnson, Ona Harbison, Tila Ballard and Olivia Harbison. One daughter and two sons died in infancy. Those left to mourn her loss are these six children, 21 grandchildren, two great grandchildren,w ith two brothers and four sisters, all of western states, besides a number of relatives and friends. Christian nobly thou has labored, Noble earned, thy sweet reward: Peace and joy are thing forever in the Mansions of thy God.
