Clinton Falls, Ind - Services for Hubert K. Clodfelter, 83, Clinton Falls, a longtime senior activist will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church, Greencastle.  Calling will be from 4-8 p.m. today in Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle. Burial will be in Union Chapel Cemetery, Greencastle. He died Friday (24 March).  Mr. Clodfelter retired in 1973 from General Motors Corp, Detroit as benefit-plans coorinator and returned to PUtnam County.

Because he saw a critical need for in-home services to all older and or/disabled Hoosiers, Mr. Clodfelter participated in the inception of the Community and Home Options to Insitutitional Care for Elderly and Disabled (CHOICE) program in 1985.  Initially set up and piloted in 20 Indiana counties in 1987, the program was expanded to include the remainder of the state in 1991.

As a lobbyhist and advocate for rural older Hoosiers, he worked on on successful campaigns to get legislation for generic drugs, nursing-home regulation reform, adult protective services and nursinghome pre-sceening.  Active in several social service agencies, he had served several offices with the Putnam County Council on Aging, inclucing resident. He also had been VP of Area 7 Agency on aging, Uited Senior Action and the Indiana Federation of Older Hoosiers.  Mr.Clodfelter had also chairman for the American Association of Retired Persons.  He has a hoard member of AARP's Capital City task force and chairman of the legislative committee of the Putnam County Chapter of AARP. He was also a member of the board of the State Home Care Task Force. He was a former Putnam County historian and former VP of the Putnam Hisotircal Society. He had also served as Clinton Township trustee and member of the board of Putnam County Home Extension Asvisory Council Putnam County Mental Health Association.  He was also past president and board member of Western Indiana Community Services.

Mr. Clodfelter garnered many awards in his careeer as a senior activist, including the Advocate of  Outstanding Senior Hoosier in 1987.  He also received a 1988 National Award for Meritorious Service by the AARP.

He was named 1983 Citizen of the Year by the Pubnam County Chamber of Commerce, 1980 Senior Citizen of the Year by the Pubnam County Jaycees and 1982 Person of the Year by the Putnam County mental Health Association.  Mr. Clodfelter was named a Satamore of the Wabash by Gov. Evan Bayh.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Putnam County Senior Center.

Survivors wife Betty Kupkie Clodfelter; sons William L; James, Keith, John, Joe Clodfelter;daughters Charlotte Smith; Carolee Smither; Sandra Elliotts; Judy Rainey; stepson Harvey Scott; stepdaughter Theo Scott-Scheiern; sisters Maxine Callender, Kay Voris; 25 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren.
