Cecil “Jack” Chadd, 68 of 301 Lawrence died Thursday at the Veterans Medical Center, Fort Harrison, following a brief illness. He was born March 22, 1920 in Greencastle, Ind to Denver C. and Gladys Chadd. He attended schools in Greencastle. In December of 1941, he entered the US Army and served until November of 1945. He was the recipient of the purple heart. On July 10, 1943, he married Alice Rogerson in Tacoma, Wash. The family moved to Helena in the 1970s after spending most of their time living in Seattle and Indianapolis. Mr. Chadd worked as a watch repairman most of his life and was employed by Barnes Jewelry in Helena. He is best known in Helen for his pool playing and golfing ability. He also enjoyed fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William. Survivors include his wife, Alice of Roundup; a daughter, Jan Chadd of California; two sisters, Betty Butler of Coatesville, Ind and Jean Green of Los Angeles, Calif. Memorial services will be Monday at 10 a.m. in the Retz Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dave Orendorff officiating. Cremation has taken place. - kbz
