William M. Catherwood died in Austin, Tuesday night, Aug 11. Born at Cynthiana, Kentucky, September 16, 1826, but removed to Putnam County, Indiana in his boyhood where he lived until 1857. That year he removed to Minnesota and settled in Moscow, Freeborn County. He enlisted in 1862 and served two and a half years in the civil war. He continued to live in Moscow from the close of the war until about 1785 (sic – 1885) when he settled in Austin where he has since resided. He leaves a widow, Sarah E. Catherwood, and two sons, Dr. TL Catherwood of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and SD Catherwood attorney of this place. The funeral will take place Friday at 3 p.m. under the auspices of Fidelity Lodge AF&AM assisted by McIntyre post GAR. He has been a member of the Masonic order more than 40 years. - kbz
