Joseph Carpenter died yesterday at his home four miles northwest of the city. Deceased was 75 years and 11 months old and had lived in this county since 17 years old. Cancer caused his death. The funeral occurred this morning at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. --– kbz

Joseph Carpenter of Madison Township died at his late residence on Jan 8 of cancer after a long sickness aged 75 years 11 months. Deceased was a native of NC came to this county when he was 17 years of age and had resided here ever since; he was an estimable citizen and highly regarded by his neighbors and a large circle of friends. --– kbz
