Jesse Carpenter, age 74 years, one of the pioneer residents of Madison Township, Putnam County, died last night at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Thomas Wilson about four miles northeast of Lena. The deceased was born and reared in Madison Township, Putnam County and was one of the highly respected citizens of that community. He was a retired farmer. He had been in poor health for some time, illness resulting from the infirmities of advanced age. Deceased is survived by four sons and two daughters, NM Carpenter of Lawrence Ind, Louis Carpenter, Greencastle; Court Carpenter, Bridgeton and JH of Greencastle. The daughters are Mrs. Thomas Wilson with whom he made his home and where he died, and Mrs. James Jobe of Reelsville.  Funeral services will be held at 10 o’clock Thursday morning from the Wilson home with interment in the family cemetery nearby. - kbz
