We clip the following from a Terre Haute
paper: a sad accident occurred at No 417 North Fourth street, yesterday which
resulted in the death of Mrs. Sadie L. Carnes, the wife of a bricklayer. Mrs. Carnes was standing on a chair hanging a
picture, when her foot clipped and she fell over the back of the chair. She was in a delicate condition and the fall
produced hemorrhage, from which she died about 8 o’clock in the evening, six
hours after receiving the injury. Everything was done for her relief that medical
skill could suggest, Dr. Young being called in soon after the accident happened
but nothing could assuage the hemorrhage. Mrs. Carnes was an estimable lady, a
devoted Christian wife and the mother of three small children. The family removed
her from Greena few months ago and since their arrival have gained the esteem
and confidence of all with whom they were thrown in contact. The relatives of the deceased who live in
Peru, were telegraphed for and arriving here this morning at 2 o’clock. - transcribed by kbz
