Funeral services for William a. Call, 73, who died at Culver hospital Crawfordsville, at noon Saturday were held at Union Chapel Methodist church west of Morton Monday afternoon, burial was made in Union Chapel cemetery. William A. Call, son of Andrew F. and Mary E. Call, was born October 25, 1866, the eldest of a family of eight children; four boys and four girls. In 1895 he married Ella Carrington, but after five and a half years she departed this life. In 1904 he remarried, choosing Minnie McGaughey who survives him. He united with the Union Chapel Methodist church when he was about 16 years old and was active in the interest of the Kingdom of God. He was a member of the Roachdale Chapter No. 247, O.E. S, Roachdale Lodge No 602, F & A. M. and Greencastle Commandry, Knights Templar. He was born in Putnam county and lived his entire life within its confines. Perhaps no man of the county was better known or had more friends. One son was born to him and Ella, which passed away in infancy. Surviving besides the widow are two brothers; Dolos and Frank, two sisters; Josie and Ossie and a foster daughter Esther Fry. Funeral services and burial were held at Union Chapel near Morton, June 3, just fifty five years to the day after the funeral of Mr. Call's father Andrew Call. (Note: there is also an obit in the 6/20/1940 newspaper, only additonal info is that he was born near Brick Chapel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Call. He operated the first Ford agency in Roachdale in the early years and was a blacksmith at the state farm a number of years. --- thanks so very much to Marilyn W who is sending her awesome collection of RT obituaries - greatly appreciated
