“Waveland news” -- Robert Goff and wife and Dora Hartman were called to Morton to attend the funeral of Mrs. Ella Call. Johnny Wilson and Shelby Hicks attended the funeral at Morton last Monday. Again God in His infinite power has called from our midst another beloved sister, Ella Carrington who departed this life Nov 18, 1900 aged 32 years. She was married to Albert Call in 1896. The funeral services were conducted at Morton at the ME Church and the remains were laid to rest in the Union Cemetery at Morton. Although her sufferings were great she bore them with patience and without a murmur until at last the angel of death came and carried her spirit home to its giver. When her friends gathered around the coffin to take the last look of all that remained of the dear one they could not realize that she had lived and suffered death but looked as one fresh from the hands. To think that one just in the bloom of youth should be forced so early to lie down by the roadside and rest before half her journal on earth was completed. She was a kind and loving companion and had a good work for everyone she met. She leaves a dear husband, father, mother, five sisters and two brothers, besides a host of friends and relatives to mourn her loss. Mourn not for me, now that thou art gone to dwell with our dear Lord and what is your loss is her gain. Poem: A precious one from us is gone; A voice we loved is stilled; A place is vacant in our home Which never can be filled. Ella, thou was mild and lovely, Gentle as the summer breeze. Pleasant as the air of evening As it floats among the trees. Now I am gone, I can’t return. No more of me you’ll see; But it is true that all of you Must shortly follow me. When you unto my grave do go, The Gloomy place to see; I say to you who stand and view. Prepare to follow me. DH
