Ladoga, Dec 6 – Word has been received here of the death of Charles Call, a former resident of this place who committee (sic – committed) suicide at the home of his son, Bert Call in Alvin, Ill Monday evening. Mr. Call hung himself, fastening a rope around his bed post and bending his knees until he strangled. Continued ill health and resultant despondency are given as the cause for the act.  He was 67 years of age. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon and interment made at Alvin.  Charles Call was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Squire Call and was born in Putnam County near Carpentersville 67 years ago. He married Sophie Benson and to them were born a son and daughter. For years Mr. Call and family had been highly respected residents of Scott township until a few weeks ago when he sold his farm and personal property and went to visit his son,  Bert in Alvin, Ill.  Later he intended to go South for his health which was impaired by a nervous trouble but it was not thought serious.  The daughter, Mrs. Lulu Cunningham went to Seattle, Was about two months ago to make her home near there. Mr. Call leaves a widow, two children and three grandchildren. Two brothers, William of Roachdale and James of Ladoga and three sisters, Mrs. Frank Shackelford of Indianapolis; Mrs. Mollie Jones of Ladoga and Mrs. James Dickerson of Crawfordsville also survive.
