Harry Lee Byrd, 73, of 514 S. Walnut St., died at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday in Culver Hospital where he had been a patient since Tuesday evening. He had been in failing health the past five years. Mr. Byrd retired from R. R. Donnelley & Sons Co. in 1959 after 30 years of employment with the printing firm. Prior to that, he farmed east of Russellville for a number of years. He was a member of the First Methodist Church here and the Masonic Lodge at Russellville. He was a veteran of World War I and was a graduate of Lake Winona Agricultural School. Born July 27, 1891, at Ladoga, he was a son of John and Mary Mills Byrd. He was twice married. He first was married in 1914 to Esther Pope. In 1920, he was married to Lola Wilson, who survives. Other survivors include a son, Bruce of South San Francisco, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Dan Mitchell of Evansville and Mrs. James Craig of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a niece, Virginia Byrd of Philadelphia, Pa.; and seven grandchildren. The body is at Hunt & Son Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are pending. Funeral services for Harry Lee Byrd, retired R. R. Donnelley & Sons employee who died here Wednesday, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hunt and Son Funeral Home. Rev. Ralph Moore Jones of the First Methodist Church will officiate, and interment will be in Russellville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home. Russellville Masons will conduct a service at 8 o'clock tonight at the funeral home. Funeral services for Harry Lee Byrd were conducted Friday afternoon in the Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph M. Jones officiating. Burial was in the Russellville Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers and assisting with floral tributes were Earl Evans, Jim Turley, Frank Davenport, Roscoe White, Walter Remley and Herman Sayler. Selections were played on the organ by Mrs. Roscoe White. Military services were conducted at the grave by Byron Cox Post of the American Legion.
