Mrs. Delina Burkett Webster was born at Salem, North Carolina Apr 16, 1824, and was married to Byrd Webster near Fincastle, Ind., Dec. 29, 1844. To them were born seven sons and three daughters. The surviving children are Wm. W. Webster, Fincastle; Mrs. Eliza McGaughey, Ladoga; Mrs. Mary M. Marshall, Ulysses, Kan.; John A. Webster, Dowagiac, Mich.; and Jesse B. Webster, Ladoga. All were present at the funeral of Mrs. Webster last week.
Mrs. Webster died in her 75th year. She enjoyed good health until about a year ago and not until within the last few weeks did her condition cause uneasiness. She died July 27, at her home in Ladoga. Short services were held at the home on Harrison street Friday morning after which the remains were taken to the Blakesburg Cemetery, in Putnam county for interment. Funeral services were conducted there - by Elder H. H. Keim and Rev. Lindsey. Three sons and three grandsons were the pall bearers.
Mrs. Webster united with the German Baptist Church about thirty years ago and lived a consecrated christian life loved and held in high esteem by all who knew her.
She leaves five children, eight grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends to mourn the departure of a loved one.
She was a mother to many beside those of her own family, and in times of trouble many sought her counsel and looked to her for advice and words of comfort.
