Virgil Buis, son of Lenzy and Orleana Buis was born in Putnam County April 4, 1883 and died December 26, 1932 making his stay on earth 49 years 8 months and 32 (sic) days., He was married to Lizzie Grimes in 1905. To this union were born 8 children. One daughter, Nora Buis, having preceded him to the grave, leaving 7 children to mourn the loss of a father, Mrs. Amy Custis, Mrs. Etheleen Chadd, Freeman, Madeline, Robert, Hazel and Lenzy Buis, all at home. For the past five years he was a sufferer from a chronic disease, his suffering being so intense at times that he expressed himself as ready and anxious to die. Mr. Buis never united with any church but was a believer in salvation by Grace. He leaves to mourn his loss besides his wife and children, four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Nora Chadd and Mrs. Lem Wallace, three brothers, Ezra Buis of Muncie, Chauner Buis and Wilile Buis and a host of other relatives and friends. His mother, Orlena Buis preceded him in death last July 3, just five months and a few days before his death. More and more each day we miss him, Friends may think the wound is healed, But they little know the sorrow Lies within our hearts concealed, Sadly missed by wife and children.
We wish to thank the minister, singers, undertaker, and friends and neighbors for their help and sympathy given us in our time of sorrow and loss of our husband and father. Also we wish to thank those who contributed floral offerings and also many thanks to the Zinc mill employees. Mrs. Lizzie Buis and children.
