Lafayette, Ind March 8 – Rev. Leander C. Buckles, 84 for 60 years a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church and former superintendent of the Northwest Indiana Methodist Episcopal conference died here last night. Among his charges were Terre Haute, Crawfordsville, Valparaiso, Michigan City, Rochester, Plymouth, Danville and Thorntown. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. CP White and a brother, Rev LS Buckles, both of this city. The funeral service over the body of Rev. LC Buckles will take place this morning at 8 o’clock at the White Home at 1422 Main Street. It will be a private service but ministers and other friends are invited. The following clergymen will have charge of the service. Superintendent WE McKenzie, Dr UG Leanzenby, Dr. G. W Switzer and Dr. HA Gobin of DePauw University. Dr. Gobin will deliver the funeral sermon. The body will be taken to Michigan City This morning on the 9 o’clock Monon train and upon arrival in Michigan City will be taken directly to the cemetery where Mrs. Buckles is buried.
