Milton BROWN, 79, Greencastle, died Saturday. Mr. BROWN is the father of Cecil BROWN. He died October 30, 1954.

Benjamin Milton Brown, age 79, was stricken with a heart attack while driving down town Saturday morning. He was taken to the Putnam County Hospital but died en route. Mr. Brown had not been well for some time but his death was not expected. He was widely known over the county and in Greencastle that many were shocked by his untimely passing. He was born and reared in Monroe Township. He was the son of Benjamin and Margaret Brown, and was born April 12, 1875. Early in life he took an active part in community affairs and continued to be civic minded the remainder of his life. He served as trustee of Monroe Twp prior to moving to Greencastle where he spent the last 25 or 30 years of his active life. Mr. Brown was united in marriage to Miss Mary Wampler on March 8, 1895 and Mrs. Brown and five children survive: Carol, Chicago; Cecil H, Greencastle; Bernice, Cleveland, O; Lynn, Greencastle and Vera Grace Brown of Dunkirk. A sister, Mrs. Mary Priest of Bainbridge also survives, as do six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Brown was a member of various Masonic bodies and a 32-degree Mason. He was also a member of the Gobin Memorial Methodist Church and charter member of the Kiwanis Club. He also served as District Governor of Kiwanis for central Indiana and was always active in that civic group. Funeral services will be held from the Hopkins-Walton Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock with Rev. FF Travis officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
